Georgia City Parks - Alpharetta

THE GREENWAYS SYSTEM

Alpharetta’s unique qualities of livability, small community, and environmental harmony are being fostered by the development of a multi-purpose greenways system that will connect and create open spaces and parks throughout the City. Four miles of concrete and mulch paths are now open to the public. The 12’ wide concrete paths offer walking, jogging, inline blading and biking. Parking is provided on Preston Ridge Drive near the YMCA and on North Point Parkway next to Home Life furniture store. Heated restrooms are provided at the latter parking area. The greenway trails close at sundown. You are advised to use the greenway the same as when you swim – take a buddy for greater safety. An additional 2.7 miles of concrete trail will be completed by January 2000. For more information on the Greenway System call (678) 297-6104.

In the spacious lobby there is a ping pong table for patrons to enjoy friendly games of table tennis and a lounge area where parents can relax and socialize while their children participate in programs such as rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and basketball camp. In February of 1999, construction of the second phase of the Community Center will begin. Phase two will include a multi-purpose gymnasium that can be used for youth athletics as well as other special programs, a state of the art gymnastics center, and a dance/fitness area that will house the existing ballet classes as well as other dance and fitness programs.
