Bacon Park
Bacon Park is the largest regional park in Chatham County. Nearly 60% of all recreational facilities are contained here. The park features several large multi-use facilities jointly built and managed by Chatham County and the City of Savannah. This park includes such facilities as the Municipal Golf Course, Lake Mayer Community Park, Memorial Stadium, the Soccer Complex, the Aquatic Center, the new in-line hockey skating facility, and numerous ball fields. The Anderson/Cohen Weightlifting Center is the home of Team Savannah, one of the largest Olympic Weightlifting Teams in the United States. The team is composed of numerous national champions, both male and female, making Team Savannah one of the United States premier weightlifting organizations.
The Anderson/Cohen Center provides many activities such as Olympic Weightlifting, sports specific weight training, team oriented training, senior adult activities, youth weight training, mild rehabilitative services and general strength conditioning. Also provided are fully equipped locker rooms including separate showers and dry saunas. The 12,000 sq. ft. facility has available 24 Olympic weight training stations, one (1) competition platform, standard free weights and nautilus equipment. Available during specific hours of operation is onsite medicine services provided by Memorial Sports Medicine and Memorial Health University Medical Center.

The Chatham County Aquatic Center, with its "bubble" dome, stands by itself in the Coastal Empire as a state-of-the-art swimming complex. The 50,000 square foot facility features two pools, one Olympic size pool and one therapeutic size pool which is used for special classes and activities. The complex also contains a snack bar, multi-purpose restrooms, a pro shop, offices, Nautilus weight equipment, bleachers, and more than adequate parking facilities.
Funding for the $4.5 million Aquatic Center was made possible by a referendum to extend the One Percent Local Option Sales Tax Program. For additional information call (912) 652-6780.

Chatham County Soccer Complex
This facility consists of two major tournament fields and six smaller fields, all with underground drainage, irrigation, lights and bleachers. A multi-use building includes showers, locker rooms, restrooms, meeting rooms, storage space, and a concession area. Designated parking, walking trails, and a large play area with tables and benches are also features of the complex. For additional information call (912) 652-6780.

The Community Sailing Program is currently housed at Lake Mayer Community Park and is co-sponsored by the Savannah Sailing Center. This program, the first of its kind in Chatham County for the general public, provides a valuable learning experience and teaches area youth to enjoy water sporting events. In addition to basic sailing and water safety, the program offers immediate and advance training. Scholarships are provided to at-risk youth.
