Turner Lake Complex

A 34, 000 square foot building, nestled in a 158 acre natural setting, houses the
Recreation Offices, Senior Services facilities, Gymnasium, Indoor Walking Track,
Conference Center and 275+ Community Room. Outdoors there are 4 State-of-the-Art Softball
fields complete with Concession Stands, Scoreboards and Bathroom Buildings. A youth
Football Field, a Lakeside pavilion (Donated by Kiwanis Club of Covington), Picnic Area, a
Tot-Lot/Playground (Donated by General Mills), 3 Miles of Walking Trails and a 26 acre
Lake complete the picture.
The main building was designed by Peter H. Hand Associates Architects. Peter Hand was the
Principal in Charge and Tanya Richard was the Project Manager.

Anderson Field
Anderson Field is located just South of Covington on Highway 36. The field is used
primarily as a practice field for youth sports.
Baker Field
Baker Field is located on Conyers Street next to the Conyers Street Gym. This is a small
field that is used by youth baseball and softball teams for games and practices. Baker
Field is a community field that is available to the public when activities are not
scheduled.
B.C. Crowell
Located off of Highway 81 in Porterdale, B. C. Crowell Park offers a practice field for
youth baseball and softball. Small children can enjoy the playground which is next to the
pavilion. The pavilion makes a great place to have a picnic. The pavilion can also be
rented for $40 per day.
Beaver Park
Located on Highway 213 in Mansfield, Beaver Park is used as a youth baseball and softball
practice field. A walking track circles the park's large open field and leads to the
pavilion and tennis court. The pavilion can be rented for $40 per day. The track can be
walked in three ways allowing for a 0.47 mile a 0.27 mile and a 0.16 mile walk. The large
field is a great place to throw a football; or fly a kite. The open area also offers kids
a place to run around and play games such as tag. The park also has a playground for the
entertainment of young children.
City Pond
City Pond Parks is located just off of Interstate 20 on Old City Pond Road. City Pond
offers a wide variety of of activities. Its six lighted baseball fields offer baseball
excitement to children and adults. These six fields are some of the finest found in the
state and have hosted several tournaments including the 1997 Dixie Boys World Series.
Batting Cages, found throughout the park, give young athletes a place to practice their
swings. Also, a football field provides children with an activity in the fall. Young
children can also enjoy the park's amenities. A small playground has been built to
entertain them
The four lighted tennis courts give tennis enthusiasts the option of playing around their
schedules, whether it is day or night. The are available for rent for League Play at a
rate of $150 per day. A sand volleyball pit, located near the tennis courts, provides
adults of all ages with hours of fun.
A large pond encompasses much of the park's land and makes a beautiful backdrop and a
perfect picnic area. If it starts to rain, the picnic can always be moved under the
pavilion, near the football field. The pavilion is available for rent at a rate of $40 per
day. When not rented, the pavilion is available on a first come first served basis.
A large two mile trail circles the pond and offers walkers and runners an excellent place
to exercise. The lower end of the park by the pond is an open area that is perfect for
playing catch or throwing Frisbees.
Conyers Street Gym
Conyers Street Gym is located in Downtown Conyers beside Baker Field. The Gym consists of
one full sized basketball court that doubles as a volleyball court. The Gym can be rented
on week day evenings and on weekends for parties and group play at a cost of $20 per hour.
Louis Fowler Park
Located next to Fire Station #1 on the Covington Bypass near Flat Shoals Road, the park
offers an outdoor basketball court and a tennis court to area residents. A walking track
circles the park. Nine laps = one mile.
Legion Field
Legion Field is a host to several activities. Youth baseball, football, and softball teams
all use this field for practice. In the Spring the field is home to the county fair which
is hosted by the American Legion.
The Scout Hut is a small meeting room that holds approximately 50 people. It is available
for rent to groups as a meeting place or an activity room for $50 per day.
A small shaded walking track is just outside the Scout Hut. Nine laps = one mile.
Pactv Field
Located off Alcovy Road Pactiv Field hosts many soft ball games under its well lit field.
It is also used as a practice field for many youth and adult teams.
RatoDyne Field
Located off Industrial Boulevard RotaDyne Field is a small field used for youth baseball
games and practices.
Spillers Park
Spillers Park is a small neighborhood park that offers children a playground. There is
also a large field where children can engage in numerous games and activities.
Stone Road Complex
Stone Road Complex is located on Stone Road just off of Highway 81 North of Oxford. This
complex consists of 3 softball field and is used primarily as an adult softball complex
for league and tournament play. Leagues that play at the park include a Church League, and
Industrial League, an Open League, a Women's League and a Co-Ed League. It is also home to
the Friday Night One Pitch Tournaments. This field is available for rent for $75 per day.
Trail Blazers
Trail Blazers Park is a one acre playground.
