Belton Bridge Park - Lula, GA

Rating

Overview
Belton Bridge is actually a "Day-Use" area, but I've camped in
this area many times. The area is not very attractive and not many people visit. Belton
Bridge is very secluded and is an excellent place for night fishing, since you can camp
right along the shore or on a sandy beach of the Chattahoochee River or Lake Sidney
Lanier. This is the meeting place of the River and the Lake. The river is shallow and
rocky in most areas here, which makes it a good place for a swim. There use to be a boat
ramp in the park, but it has been closed for several years and I don't think the US Corp
of Engineers is planning to reopen it anytime soon. This park is good to begin a
canoe/kayak trip down the river. You can end at the Lula Boat Ramp, which is about 7 miles
down the river.
All along the river are wide sandy roads, excellent for walking or
a 4-wheeler. There are no facilities or trash receptacles.
The river in this area offers great fishing access. I've caught catfish, carp,
crapies, bass, and trout(rare).
