Overview
Amicalola Falls is famous for its beautiful
waterfalls of 729 feet of cascades. Considered one of the seven wonders of Georgia,
Amicalola is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The park offers great
trout fishing on the very same creek, "Little Amicalola Creek."
The park is over 1,023 acres in area, and consists mostly of hardwood trees. A variety of
wild flowers and wildlife make there home in the park, so bring your binoculars.

| Hiking |
Hikers can enjoy nearly three miles of trails
on the park, plus the Approach Trail to the 2,160 mile Appalachian Trail. The southern
terminus of the Appalachian Trail is 8.5 miles from the park. Backpackers planning to be
overnight should register at the visitors center before leaving. All vehicles left
overnight must be registered. Several areas of the park are steep, and footing is
treacherous. |
| Fishing |
There is a stocked stream for
trout fishing during season. Persons age 16 or older must have a valid fishing license and
trout stamp. |
| Camping |
The park offers 20 campsites.
Trailers are limited to 17 feet due to steep incline. Hot showers, flushing toilets, and
laundry facilities are located in the comfort station, which is ADA accessible. These may
be reserved up to 1 year in advance. |
| Lodge/Restaurant |
A 57-room lodge, restaurant and
meeting facilities are available for getaways and group gatherings. Maple Restaurant is
located in the lodge and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours may vary by
season.
Len Foote Hike Inn: Guests arrive on foot after hiking a five mile trail beginning in
Amicalola Falls State Park and traveling through portions of the Chatahoochee National
Forest. Hearty meals, hot showers and private rooms await hikers at the end of the trail. |
| Cottages |
There are 14 cottages which may
be reserved up to one year in advance for a quite escape. Some are nestled in the woods
along the creek, while others are set on a mountain for a panoramic view. No pets are
permitted. |
| Picnicking |
The park provides 78 picnic
tables which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and five are covered picnic
shelters that maybe reserved up to 1 year in advance. |
| Playgrounds |
There are three playgrounds. |
| Annual Events |
Spring Flower Hike (April),
Backpacking Clinic(April), Backpacking Trips (October), Snakes Alive and October Foliage
Display, and Christmas Open House (December). Dates are subject to change. There is a
naturalist providing special programs at the park year-round. |
