Overview
The park covers 150 acres. Located on Lake
Wlater F. George on the Chattahoochee River, Florence Marina offers a diversity of
recreational opportunities. The lake contains 45,190 acres bounded by 640 miles of
shoreline.
The park is adjacent to a natural deep-water marina with a handicapped accessible
deep-water fishing pier, boat slips and a boat ramp offering access to Lake Walter F.
George. Water activities are limitless. An interpretive center affords the visitor an
opportunity to learn about the early settlers and Creek Indian encounters, including the
attack and burning of Roanoke located within two miles of the park. The interpretive
center displays several artifacts found on the park, which was once the site of an Indian
village and the frontier river town of Florence.
