James H. Floyd State Park - Summerville, GA

Rating

Overview
James H. Floyd State Park was named for James
H."SLoppy" Floyd, a state representative who served with distinction in the
Georgia House of Representatives from 1953 until his death in 1974. The park covers 561
acres and is nestled at the base of Taylor's Ridge which is part of the Chattahoochee
National Forest. Two lakes feature fishing at its best. Wooden porch swings are located along the shoreline of each lake where visitors can
sit and relax in a beautiful setting.
The park staff is involved in an on-going program to restore the threatened bluebird
population. You will enjoy these birds as you stroll through the park. There is also a
program of wildflower planting. Bring a wildflower book and see how many plants and
flowers you can identify.
