Boone City Parks - Iowa

1 - ANDERSON PARK - Aldrich Avenue and South Marshall
Neighborhood park with a playground, basketball court and open shelter.

2 - CAP ERBE PARK AND WILDLIFE PRESERVE - 2001 Southeast Linn.
This 6-acre park in the SE part of Boone contains a 3.5 acre restored prairie, prairie identification garden, walking path, restroom, 3 shelters, playground, and large open play field. This area is intended as a family recreation area and educational area.

3 - CUMMINGS PLAYGROUND - 7th and Jefferson
Neighborhood park with a playground, open shelter, basketball court, and 2 small ball fields.

4 - FRANKLIN PARK - 12th and Carroll
Neighborhood park with a playground and restroom.

5 - HERITAGE PARK - 9th and Story
Downtown park with a wall mural, CNW Railroad caboose, Verteran's memorial monument.

6 - HERMAN PARK - Woodland Avenue and South Greene
This 35-acre park has a large open pavilion, restroom, playground, woodland trails, and old township cemetery. The stage in the pavilion provides an excellent place for summer band concerts, as well as other community events. Thpavilion can also be reserved for group
events.

7 - LARREW PARK - 12th and Harrison
Small neighborhood playground and open shelter.

8 - LINWOOD PARK CEMETERY - 609 Forest Avenue
A city operated perpetual care cemetery.

9 - LITTLE LEAGUE PARK - 2nd and Division
This is dedicated to Little League with 6 ball fields, playground, restrooms, and an open shelter.

10- LOWELL PARK - 16th and Cedar
An 8.3-acre park with a reconstructed prairie occupying 6-acres with a trail and gazebo. The remaining land is open space with a playground and open shelter.

11- McHOSE PARK - Park Avenue and Francis Mason Drive
Boone's largest park located on the south side has 3 enclosed rental shelters, open shelter, 3 ball fields, 6 tennis courts, sand volleyball court, 6 playgrounds, nature trail, equestrian area, fishing pond, and bike trail. The heated swimming pool has a 105-foot water slide. Winter activities include ice skating and sledding.

12- MEMORIAL PARK - 19th and Greene
A 3-acre park on the north side of Boone with Babe Ruth baseball, DMACC baseball, high school baseball, playground, 2 tennis courts, 12 horseshoe courts, basketball court, and 2 open shelters.

13- MILES-LEE PARK - 5th and Franklin
This neighborhood park in west Boone is comprised of a playground, open shelter, World War II Battle of the Bulge Monument, and a small play field.

14- MILWAUKEE PARK - Southeast Linn and Delaware
Neighborhood park with playground, open shelter.

15- SENHOLZ MEMORIAL PARK - 222 Mamie Eisenhower
Recreation trail begins here and goes south to McHose.

Enclosed Shelters Renter Information

Boone City Parks offers three enclosed shelters available for rental -

J.B. McHose Shelter located a ¼ mile south of the main entrance, the Boy Scout Cabin located a ¼ mile north of the Hwy. 30 rest area, and the Floyd Gutterridge Shelter House located 3 blocks west of Story St. on Park Avenue.
J.B. McHose Shelter - Seating capacity 120, 100 chairs, 14 folding tables. Kitchen with stove, refrigerator, sink with cold water. Fireplace. Flush toilets near by. Close to playground, softball diamond, swimming pool, kids fishing pond, hiking trails, tennis and volleyball courts.

Scout Cabin - Seating capacity 80, 60 chairs, 10 folding tables. Stove, refrigerator, sink with cold water, heater, fireplace, pit toilets outside. Close to playground, hiking trails and kids fishing pond.

Floyd Gutterridge Shelter - Seating capacity 50, 40 chairs, 6 folding tables. Kitchen with stove, refrigerator, furnace and water outside. Pit toilet outside. Close to playground, hiking trails and horse arena.

Renter Responsibility: Renter will be billed for any damage or clean up costs. Building must be cleaned before vacated. Renter may remain at building for one hour past park closing time for clean up purposes only. Park closes at 11 p.m.

Put away all folding chairs and tables.
Set all picnic tables outside.
Make sure stove, water and lights are turned off. Leave refrigerator on.
Put out fires. (NOT WITH fire extinguisher)
Shut and lock all windows and doors.
Sweep the floor and set garbage outside.
Clean up litter outside associated with your group.
Return the key and report any damages in writing.


Fire Extinguisher: Each building is equipped with an all purpose fire extinguisher for your safety. Please do not discharge extinguisher unless necessary.


Cancellations and Refunds: Please inform me of your cancellations as soon as possible so that others may use the facility. A refund may be obtained up to two weeks prior to your reservation date.


Key Pick Up: Pick up key the day before for weekday renter. Weekend renter should pick up key on Friday. Come to the Park Office at 724 Lincoln Avenue during regular business hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Best time is noon or 3:00 p.m. Out of town renters may pick up key on day of rental. Come to Boone City Parks (sign) parking lot at 724 Lincoln Avenue. Key will be in Key box next to office gate. Please call ahead for other arrangements.

Reservations: Reservation can be made up to one year in advance.
Herman Park Pavilion Renter Information

This open-air pavilion has been divided into 3 sections to accommodate multiple group usage. Colored lines are painted on the floor.
1. Blue Section - South half of pavilion and to include the stage, includes 20 tables.
2. Red Section - Northwest quarter of pavilion, includes 10 tables.
3. Green Section - Northeast quarter of pavilion, includes 10 tables.

Rules:
1. Share extra tables with non- reservation park users outside of the pavilion.
2. If part of pavilion is not rented, usage is on a first come - first served basis.
3. Renters can only use their rental area.
4. Grills are on a first come, first serve basis.
5. Electricity is to be shared by all.
6. Noise and music is to be kept low so all can enjoy.
7. Reservation can be made up to one year in advance.
