OVERVIEW
If you're near the Tennessee area, plan to visit beautiful Sequoyah Caverns. It's a very unique place to view many ancient fossils and formations. They are known for the "Looking Glass Lakes" which mirrors the wonders of the caverns in lakes and pools. Legend has it that Indians searched for treasures in the cavern. Besides the caverns, don't miss out in seeing a once in a lifetime of herds of buffalo, deer, peacocks, and rainbow trout's.
Right next to the Caverns is the campground. At the campground there is a shopping store, a swimming pool, hot showers, laundry, and game room.

The cavern is filled with beautiful sparkling water.  The reflection looks like a mirror effect.  Of course you'll find out during your tour that it's not really "sparkling".   The water is actually only several inches deep, and the bottom is covered with black sand.  When you look at the water at certain points you'll think it's extremely deep.  There's one section that you'll look at that will remind you of looking into the grand canyon, it's hard to imagine that the water is only a few inches deep.   Very amazing stories to be heard during the tour as well.

The STORY OF SEQUOYAH (1770-1843)
From Tuskegee, Tennessee, Sequoyah was once an illiterate child born to a Cherokee mother and a German father. Once a young warrior he sided with Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. He is famously known as completing the alphabet or syllabary in 12 years at his home in Willstown. Because of his work, majority of the Cherokee Nation were able to read and write. Thus the name of the Caverns; but also he was named after the giant Sequoia tree and Sequoia National Park in California.
While visiting Mexico, he became ill. He died in 1843 at the age of 73.
