Overview
Frank Jackson Sate Park is located off U.S. Highway 331, adjacent to the
city of Opp, Alabama in Covington County. This park is made up of 2,050 acres of which
1,000 acres comprise the lake. Most recreational activities have been planned around the
water resource and include fishing, swimming, boating, camping, picnicking and walking.
The lake was constructed in 1986 and stocked with largemouth bass, bream and crappie. The
area south of the bridge on Highway 331 and marked 'Flooded Timber' on the map is the
shallowest part of the lake.

Facilities at Frank Jackson State Park include a handicap accessible bathhouse,
picnic pavilion/shelter and walkway located adjacent to the campground. There are
twenty-six pull-through campsites, three of which are handicap accessible. In addition to
these sites there are five tent sites with water.
A boardwalk/bridge leading from the boat ramp/parking area to the island is one of the
many unique features at Frank Jackson. A short walking trail loops around the island,
which provides limited access to the shoreline. An educational kiosk is located at the
trail entrance and provides information on birds and small mammals, which may be seen in
the park.
A handicap accessible fishing platform is located at the northwest end of the dam and is
accessible from Highway 42.
